140,000 Miles of African Roads Added to Open Street Map

140,000マイルのデータ量もさることながら、アフリカへの貢献という意味が素晴らしいと思います。

The Open Street Map community has been wonderful throughout the project. Special thanks to Mikel Maron for his extremely helpful advice and encouragement in the early days of our work. We’ve received numerous emails expressing support and willingness to volunteer since we first announced the creation of the team. Now that we’ve got our feet under us, we plan to take a few folks up on these offers and will be coordinating future work on the project page of each country in the OSM Wiki.

日本国内も含めて、いろんな示唆を含んだ内容だと思います。

The winning SOTM logo

デザイン募集していたSOTM2009のロゴが投票の結果、決まったようです。
さすが、Good design!

Voting on the logo that was scheduled for the 10th April was delayed due to administrative problems. The group looked through the 33 logos that had been submitted to the logo design competition and created a short-list of six logos. These six were discussed against the original specification. The final logo was chosen and is enclosed below. The logo was designed by Sofia Merkulova. The SOTM organizing committee's congratulations go to Sofia for a great, distinctive logo.

The migration to API 0.6 wouldn't have been possible without the hard work of our sysadmin team who worked all hours, all weekend to get the new server and code up and running. Also Matt isn't on that list, but deserves special mention as chief migration man.

OSM Read Only解除

OSM、金曜日からのRead Onlyが解除されました。
お疲れさまです。データアップ、ダウンロード、Potlatchの動きはどうでしょうか？historyタブはこんな感じでした。

無事アップ作業終了、そしてOSM再開することを望みます。

API 6.0へのアップグレード作業終了は20日月曜日を目標としています。
先程、twitterに終了が遅れるとのコメントがありました。

OSMがRead Onlyになって数日経ちましたが、私も含めデータが溜まっています。１１万ユーザーのデータUP、編集の集中はかなりのものだと予想されます。更に新API、新サイト画面、新エディタにアクセスが急増するのは必至です。

無事作業終了、そしてOSM再開することを望みます。
