Egyptからの贈り物

SOTM2009ではlightning talkに挑みました。発表当日、他の方のlightning talkを順番待ちでドキドキしながら拝見しているとガーン、"State of Egypt "のタイトルと同時にAbu Simbel神殿のドアップが大スクリーンに。私は会津鶴ヶ城Tsuruga-jo・・・かなわないかぁ。ショックを受けつつランチタイム、会場内のレストランで席を探していると"State of Egypt "の発表を終えたAbdelrahman Hassan さんが目の前に、遠慮せず同席、つたない英語でぼそりぼそりとお話していただけました。別れ際、大胆にも「午後、私も発表するのでよかったら聞いてね。」みたいなことを言って席を立ちました。
日本に戻ってAbdelrahman Hassan さんからガラスのピラミッドが息子たちへ送られてきました。感謝いたします。
お礼にはやっぱり"ガラスの会津鶴ヶ城"です！
Abdelrahman Hassanさんは今回エジプトから、"The State of the Map scholarships"の招待メンバーとしてSOTMへ参加していました。

紙と鉛筆のマッピング Walking Papers その2

先日紹介しました"紙と鉛筆のマッピング Walking Papers"ですが、これはマッピング用OSM地図をプリントするだけのシステムではありません。もちろんマッピング用地図をプリントするだけに使っても構いません。
Walking Papers(WP)の優れている点は、情報を書き込んだWP地図をスキャンしてWalking Papersサイトにスキャン画像をアップロードすると自動でOSM地図上に編集用下絵として貼りつき、すぐにPotlatchで編集が始められます。（JOSM用プラグインもできています。)
SOTM2009の"Open Paper Maps"講演スライドにも説明がありますがWP地図にプリントされる1つQRコードと3つ角のシンボルで位置座標、回転を合わせ地図画像をOSM上に貼りこんでいます。

OSMが白図の地域ではなく、道路等がある程度書かれた地域でのGPS無しマッピングに有効です。講演でもGPSや衛星写真では読み取れない情報（店舗、番地、一方通行・・・etc）の調査にどうぞと言われています。
また、Walking Papersが世界に広がっていることは素晴らしいが、利用がほとんど地図プリントに偏っているのが現状とも語っています。
どうぞWalking Papersスキャンして使ってみてはいかがですか？（解像度は低め200dpi程度で）

紙と鉛筆のマッピング Walking Papers

SOTMでの"Walking Papers"の評価は高いものでした。GPS無しでのOSMマッピングがシステムとして確立されています。
1.（プリント）
マッピング範囲を指定してWalking PaperをA4プリント。
2.（マッピング・情報書き込み）
プリントしたWalking Paperを持って野外マッピング、情報を書き込む。
3.（スキャン）
情報を書き込んだWalking Paperをスキャン。
4.（アップロード）
スキャンデータをアップロード
5.（オーバーレイ編集）
Potlatch上に書き込み有りのWalking Paperがオーバーレイされ、編集が可能となります。
私も以前、「・・学校での街地図作成の件ですが、私も最初はOSMはぴったりと思いましたが、違う観点から見ると生徒にとってはGPS使わない手作り地図のほうがいいのかなと思えることもあります。・・」と書きましたが、すでに向こうではそれが形になっていました。

SOTM2009 お土産

SOTM2009からのお土産です。
OSMピンバッジはOSM財団への寄付オークションで購入した"高価"なものです。OSM本第二版にはまたFrederikさんとJochenさんのサインをもらいました。

SOTM2009 Weekend programme (3日目)

SOTM2009 Weekend programme (2日目)

SOTM2日目です。この1年間で４倍以上に増えた１３万OSMrの勢いを痛感しました。三浦さんのライトニングトーク講演"3D mapping in Japan: OSM challenge in 3D town Tokyo Japan"も終わりました。3D mappingはやはり関心が高く、講演後もマッピングや表現・レンダリング方法についてディスカッションしていました。

State Of The Map 2009今週末開催されます。

３回目のOSM国際会議SOTM2009が今週末、オランダ（アムステルダム）で３日間開催されます。昨年はアイルランドで開催されました。今年はOSMFメンバーとオランダのOSMマッパーがホストとして準備を進めてきました。
参加者は世界中から200名を越えるとの声も聞いています。
規模も内容も様変わりするのでしょうか？SOTM2009の成功を期待します。

カリブ海のアンティグア島へイギリスのOSMボランティアSteve Chiltonが6月5日から12日の１週間、派遣されます。
対Map MakerとしてGPSログ取得、OSMデータの整備を行います。この遠征費には74人から集めた740ポンドが寄付されました。7月のSOTM2009でSteveからの詳細報告があります。素晴らしい！
